Meet Captain Larry

Welcome aboard! I’m Captain Larry, the owner and solo guide at Weeki Wachee Fish Company. Fishing the Florida Nature Coast is my way of life. With years of experience running Weeki Wachee fishing charters, I know the local flats and backcountry creeks around Bayport and Hernando Beach like the back of my hand. My true passion is showing my guests the best of the Nature Coast on our professional fishing charters.
I customize every trip, whether you're a hardcore angler sight-casting for a trophy Snook or a family looking for a kid-friendly fishing guide. I specialize in light tackle inshore fishing, plus our wildly popular guided scalloping trips in the late summer. Depending on your adventure, we'll head out on my agile 18-foot G3 boat to sneak into skinny water, or my spacious 27-foot Dek Kat for a fast, incredibly comfortable ride.
My goal is a completely stress-free day on the water. When you book a Florida Nature Coast fishing trip with me, just show up ready to have fun. I provide the premium tackle, bait, and your Florida fishing licenses. I'll even clean and bag your catch back at the dock. Grab your sunglasses, pack a cooler, and let's go experience the best fishing Hernando County has to offer!

How far in advance should I book a charter with Weeki Wachee Fish Company?
It is always a good idea to book as early as possible, especially if you are aiming for the busy summer scalloping season or prime spring fishing dates. Reaching out a few weeks ahead of time gives you the best chance to lock in the exact day that fits your vacation schedule.
What happens to my booking if there is bad weather on the day of the trip?
Safety is Captain Larry's number one priority on the water. If the weather is dangerous or uncooperative, he will work with you directly to reschedule your charter for the next available clear day. If rescheduling doesn't work for your group, you will receive a full refund of your deposit.
Where exactly do we meet Captain Larry to get on the boat?
Charters launch right in the heart of the action, typically out of Bayport at 4140 Cortez Boulevard. This central location gives us immediate, easy access to the pristine backcountry waters and Gulf flats of Hernando County without wasting time on a long boat ride.
How many people are allowed on the boat, and are kids welcome?
Our vessels can safely and comfortably carry up to four passengers, ensuring everyone gets plenty of space and personalized guidance. Families are absolutely welcome, and trips are completely kid-friendly—just let Captain Larry know in advance so he can have the right-sized life vests ready for the little ones!
Can we bring our own food, drinks, and alcohol on the boat?
Yes! You are highly encouraged to bring a small cooler with your favorite snacks, sandwiches, and bottled water for the day. Alcohol is totally fine to bring and enjoy in moderation, but for safety reasons, we just ask that you leave hard liquor and glass bottles on shore.
How long do the charters last, and what time do the trips usually start?
Captain Larry offers a few different options to perfectly fit your vacation schedule, including a 4-hour half-day and an 8-hour full-day trip. To give your crew the absolute best chance at a great catch, all of our trips kick off bright and early at 7:00 AM.
